about

This track portrays a persons unforgivable actions resulting in their heartbreak and isolation. It's about the empty feeling of regret for the love they've lost and how their one night in paradise became a lifetime of torment.

lyrics

[Verse 1]
"Tossing and turning
My eyes still burning
From the tears I made you cry

Such a bitter taste
Of love gone to waste
Since the day you said goodbye

Touched by tenderness
By love's sweet caress

Nothing to compare
Your smile laid me bare

I was such a fool
Broke our only rule
Never meant to break your heart

My one sin did gain
A lifetime of pain
Now we'll always be apart

[Chorus]
She's flown away now (x3)

Touched by tenderness
By love's sweet caress

Nothing to compare
Your smile laid me bare

[Verse 2]
Just a face was she
Meant nothing to me
Tempted by forbidden fruit

I can't wash away
The guilt of that day
In a house of ill repute

[Bridge]
I wish I could cleanse my soul
And with a remote control
Rewind the hands of time
But I've paid a heavy price
For a bird of paradise
For a bird of paradise

[Chorus]
She's flown away now" (x3)

Composed by: Kareem El Nagar / Paul Key

My name is Kareem El Nagar, I’m 27 years old and I’m from Sheffield, UK. I’ve been into music from the age of 6, back when I used to listen to my Dad’s Elvis Presley and Beatles tapes on his Walkman. The more I listened, the more passionate and determined I became to perform my own music. My first instrument (not including the recorder) was back in junior school where I was taught to play the Baritone Trumpet. This gave me the taste of live performance due to the regular shows I played as part of an orchestra. Once I got to secondary school I was introduced to the electric guitar, this prompted me and my mates to form a Rock Band and start gigging the local music scene. I became a vocalist and fronted the band which felt like the natural role for me. We wrote, performed and produced for many years until my band members had to go their separate ways, to various reaches of the globe, forcing the band to split. Since then I’ve been fitting music around my family and fulltime job, savouring a few hours of writing and producing every once in a while from the spare bedroom of my suburban semi-detached. It’s hard to describe my style of music but I’d have to say it fits within the Alternative Indie/Rock genre. I’m always learning and evolving within my music. My influences and inspirations change year on year which becomes prevalent in the tracks that I write. Music gives me great pleasure, as a listener and performer, and it’s something I’ll always be involved with until the day I die. If my music can bring pleasure to a few other people along the way then it makes it even more worthwhile for me.

The Sounds of Strangers UK

We are a group of BT musicians who have come together (initially as strangers) to create an album of different music from our bands or solo acts to raise money for charity. Our first album is in support of the World Cancer Research Fund UK.
We wanted to contribute our 'sounds' for the album - responding to an S.O.S. appeal from Phil Brunkard who kicked off the project.
We hope you enjoy.
