about

This song is a reflective look back at one of the band members’ own journey through Cancer, giving an insight into the emotions experienced and the overall defiance needed to cope with diagnosis, treatment, and in this case, a happy outcome. The chorus itself is pulled straight from a conversation with a doctor who explained that the gaps between treatments would allow the body to “Build itself up, ready to be broken down again”. So if you like your music heart felt, melodic and laced with emotion, Social Resin are a must see band for any enthusiast!

lyrics

"Head first into the ocean, I’ll roll my sleeves up again, cold winds strike my emotions, like a willow tree I will bend.
Daytime slips into the concrete, horizon dissolving the sun, I count the seconds like church bells while my body slips loose from my mind….my mind.

You build me up to break me down
Your aqueous touch keeps me safe and sound

I’m scattered like leaves on the garden, lost in the liquid again, once more I give up my freedom, lose myself while the world turns it’s head.
Voices and laughter cut through me and I’m in no state to comply, drenched in the juice of redemption, I am a chrysalis waiting to dry….to dry.

You build me up to break me down
Your aqueous touch keeps me safe and sound

Counting the days until I’m,

Here’s to you my insipid friend,
Pleased to meet you I will pretend,
All through the lonely and the restless nights,
I‘ll embrace your poison touch for the promise of life....

You won’t break me, you won’t break me".

Social Resin are an acoustic band made up of five members. We perform original music in varied venues, ranging from local pubs to big stage festivals across Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas. One of our proudest nights to date was selling out Stage 2 at the Stables, Wavendon, where we performed a 2 hour set for family, friends and many “first timers” looking for a good night out.

The band comprises of Scott Wells on Vocals, Mike Dye on Guitar, Leon Hudston on Guitar, Nick Hills-Sands Potter on Bass and Simon Woodhams on Cajon. We have written and recorded a full album of original songs, but after consideration, the track chosen for this compilation is one called “Willow Tree”.

about

The Sounds of Strangers UK

We are a group of BT musicians who have come together (initially as strangers) to create an album of different music from our bands or solo acts to raise money for charity. Our first album is in support of the World Cancer Research Fund UK.
We wanted to contribute our 'sounds' for the album - responding to an S.O.S. appeal from Phil Brunkard who kicked off the project.
We hope you enjoy.
